WELCOME
Thank you for visiting the Aikido of Southern Connecticut website.
Founded in 2002, Aikido of Southern Connecticut is affiliated with USAF, United States Aikido Federation, as led by Yoshimitsu Yamada Sensei. We are located minutes from downtown New Haven and the campus of Yale University.
Aikido of Southern Connecticut members are a diverse group of men and women that come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Together we contribute to an ongoing practice that is safe, serious, and joyful.
OUR MISSION
To provide the opportunity for all people to study and further the principles of Aikido, as created by the founder Morihei Ueshiba O-Sensei.
To achieve this, we will ...
· Provide a strong structure of correct, basic Aikido technique.
· Maintain a safe practice attitude and environment.
· Create a training atmosphere where senior and junior students are appropriately challenged at their level, and support each other’s mutual progress.
· Encourage a joyful practice.

This picture of O-Sensei was taken in the late 1950’s when he was around 80 years old. O-Sensei continued to practice Aikido and give public demonstrations until the time of his death in 1968, at the age of 86.
